Blackpool & Wyre Crown Green Bowling Academy CIC
BWCGBA CIC was established in October 2024 as an independent Community Interest Company to offer people in the communities of Blackpool and Wyre the opportunity to learn how to play the game of Crown Green Bowls.
We are a not-for-profit organisation and rely on funding and donations to operate. All our work is voluntary, and we are committed to introducing new people, of all abilities, to the game.
BWCGBA is open to anyone from the age of seven. Our three qualified coaches, all BDA-approved, have coached over sixty people to become competent bowlers since 2023.
We are ready to teach the basics of bowling during a light-hearted free course.
As the academy is independent, our bowling coaches can travel to any location in the Blackpool or Wyre boroughs. Any equipment we may need to use is transportable and easily laid out for use.
We have several volunteers who help deliver the bowling sessions.
The academy also assists those people with additional needs and physical disabilities to have fun with our safe, specialised bowling equipment. We use Bowls Buddies products, which include various bowling aids and targets, including their light, soft bowls that are designed to react in the same way as a normal bowl.
Our independent, qualified coaches are available to help any bowling club with coaching assistance.
We can coach their members on their green.
Should any sports club, school or youth organisation wish to have a Fun Open Day, our academy is willing to help.
We are pleased to announce the academy has won an award for the work we do in the community from
Manchester & North West England Prestige Awards.
